AUTUMN WEDDING ESSENTIALS

Well, autumn has well and truly arrived in our woodlands so our thoughts are, obviously, turning to autumnal weddings. This is just such a wonderful time of year so it’s no surprise that this season is also super popular with couples planning their big day. If you’re currently organising your fall celebration then read on because these are the autumn wedding essentials that you just can’t be without…

Firstly, hot chocolate. Really, need we say more? Nothing says warming indulgence quite like a mug of gorgeously smooth hot chocolate and, if it’s topped with marshmallows, so much the better. Hot chocolate or hot cocoa makes a really great alternative to cool alcoholic drinks after your ceremony and it’s always SO popular with guests.

Autumn really wouldn’t be autumn without pumpkins would it? Use these seasonal beauties to create fabulous decorations that are more sophisticated than scary. Carve patterns or quotes into your pumpkins or take a look online for tutorials that will show you how to turn pumpkins into the best wedding accessories ever.

Golden leaves are the symbol of autumn and there are so many ways that you can include them in your wedding plans. Create confetti from fallen leaves, add them to your bouquet or even use them to make a brilliant alternative ‘guest book tree’.

Grown-up toffee apples make the best wedding favours for autumnal occasions. Whether you’re ‘apple-y married’ or looking forward to your ‘apple-y ever after’, these are favours that can’t be ignored. Stick with classic toffee coatings or opt for modern favourites such as salted caramel, white chocolate or even chocolate with a hint of edible gold.

If your venue allows, a sparkler send-off at the end of the evening is a seasonal must-have. There’s something so wonderful about sparklers and you never see anyone holding one without a smile on their face. You can buy extra long sparklers that are perfect for weddings and don’t forget plenty of easy-to-use click lighters and buckets or water or sand to keep everything safe.

Nature should definitely inspire your autumn wedding and if you’re clever, you can pick up loads of decorative items when you’re just out walking. Acorns make perfect accessories for table plans, place markers, bouquets, centrepieces and more so get out and start gathering!

If sparklers make your wedding fun, twinkling fairy lights and softly glowing candles will make it romantic. String up fairy lights all around your venue and remember that it’s almost impossible to have too many! Candles really create an intimate atmosphere, especially during your wedding breakfast so again, use plenty of them and try to do without harsh overhead light completely.

Autumn is all about the abundance of harvest so make sure that you’ve got plenty of yummy treats to serve up to your guests. Warming, filling, indulgent delights definitely need to feature on your menu. Delicious soup canapes, hearty bowl food, hog roasts and even tables laden with mini fruit pies in lieu of traditional desserts are all perfect.

Autumn-2-2

Lastly, we have to mention autumnal colour schemes because they really are spectacular. Take your inspiration from nature with the tones that you choose and include botanical extras in your decorations. Leaves, feathers, herbs, seeds and even berries and fruits are all perfect. If there’s a season more perfect than autumn for a woodland wedding, we really don’t believe it.

If you’d like to come and see our woodlands in all their autumnal glory, just get in touch and we can arrange a time to show you around.
