DECORATIONS FOR A WOODLAND WEDDING

eco friendly wedding stationery

One of the most exciting parts of wedding planning is choosing your decorations. The details that you include play a bit part in creating atmosphere and they also really need to reflect your style and the style of your wedding day. Today, we’re looking at the best decorations for a woodland wedding so prepared to be inspired!

Ceremony backdrops

Recently, ceremony backdrops have become really BIG news. And it makes sense because your guests spend the entire ceremony looking at them and a great backdrop also frames you perfectly as you take your vows.

There’s loads of choice when it comes to choosing the perfect backdrop for your ceremony. You can keep it simple with fabric swags or floral displays on upturned logs or you can create something really impressive. How about a metallic arch, decorated with flowers and surrounded by candles? Or a macramé hanging for a brilliantly boho look? You can also include props such as chairs, tables or even use wooden pallets for an amazing rustic installation.

Wedding signage

We love wedding signage! Signs can welcome guests, explain the format of the day and even give instructions. So, if you want your nearest and dearest to ‘pick a seat, not a side’ or turn off their phones and devices for an unplugged ceremony, a sign is sure to get the message across.

Whether you go for a handmade chalkboard sign or if you prefer to paint on wood, just make sure that the writing is large and legible so everyone can see exactly what you want!

Seating

You can also get creative with your seating and allow rows of chairs to become part of the decorations too. Hire in mismatched or vintage chairs, set out benches in sinuous rows or arrange all your chairs in a circle so you stand right in the middle of your guests. It’s up to you but don’t feel that you have to follow tradition here.

We also love seeing aisles that aren’t straight – why not create an aisle that weaves and has a much more organic, natural shape? And, speaking of aisles…

Aisle decorations

Decorating your aisle is always a good idea. It makes your ceremony space look inviting and interesting and again, think of the photo opps! Aisle decorations can be simple or statement and there’s something for every budget. Scatter petals on the forest floor, line the aisle with flowers or make hundreds of little hearts on sticks to lead guests to your ceremony.

Ring boxes

OK, so a ring box isn’t strictly a decoration but you can be sure that it’ll be photographed and a beautiful ring box makes a very special wedding keepsake too. Wooden boxes obviously work really well if you’re having a woodland wedding, but glass boxes filled with moss or flowers also look amazing.

Using the trees

Finally, why not use the trees? You can easily hang signs from the trees, decorate them with flowers, string photos or lights around them or create your very own ‘family tree’ with photos hooked onto branches. If this is something that you’d like to do, just let us know when you visit so we can find the most suitable trees for you.

If you’d like to start planning your own woodland wedding, why not come and visit us? We’d love to welcome you and show you just what makes GreenAcres venuesso special. Get in touch to book your personal tour!
