With the summer Bank Holiday behind us and September just around the corner, we’re getting excited about autumn weddings here at GreenAcres. The woodlands are particularly beautiful at this time of year and the change of the seasons often signals a shift in wedding styles too. If you’re planning an autumnal woodland wedding, here’s some rather gorgeous inspiration for you.

Early autumn weddings really are wonderful. You can opt for a seasonal colour palette and include lots of fabulous natural touches in your decorations. Autumn is definitely becoming increasingly popular with couples and, when you see how dreamy these weddings are, you could well be looking for a September or October wedding date yourself!

Firstly, let’s talk colours and you’re really spoilt for choice here. You can still choose a stylish neutral palette and maybe accessorise with peaches or corals or you could go for browns, creams and natural tones. We love blues and caramels at this time of year and of course, berry hues are always fantastic in autumn too. Embrace everything autumn has to offer or keep it a little lighter, it’s completely up to you.

Lots of autumn brides opt for a gown with sleeves and this is a very wise idea, especially if you’re taking your vows beneath the trees or escaping into the woodlands for super romantic photos after your ceremony. However, you don’t have to cover up if you don’t want too – just pack a cosy wrap or shrug in your bridal bag so you’ve got another layer to hand if you need.

For guys, autumn really is the perfect time of year for tweed. Layer up your look with a jacket and waistcoat and then add some personality and a pop of colour with your tie and buttonhole. If it’s a warmer day, ditch the jacket for a suitably laidback look!

When it comes to your flowers, there’s a huge choice in autumn. Lots of blooms are at their best in early autumn so speak to your florist to find out what’s in season and go from there. This is also a great time of year to incorporate foliage, leaves, fruits, berries, seeds, grasses and other details into your wedding flowers. Just take a look online for more ideas and you’ll be totally inspired!

Autumn also means comfort food so now’s the time of year when your wedding breakfast really needs to become a wedding feast! Again, keep things seasonal with lots of fresh produce and a few yummy sweet treats too (we can’t resist warm doughnuts) and why not drop a few berries into your toast drinks as a perfect autumnal finishing touch? Think about comfort food later in the day too – how about warming bowls of chilli in the evening or even wood-fired pizza? Your guests will love you for it!

If you want to see just how amazing our woodlands are at this time of year, why not come along to our Open Days on 30thSeptember?
