MIDSUMMER WEDDING INSPIRATION

woodland wedding

All of us here at GreenAcres are absolutely loving the long days we’re enjoying at the moment. Midsummer is such a wonderful time of year and the summer solstice has inspired this feature. As you might expect from a midsummer wedding, we’re making the most of the great outdoors and indulging in ethereal, romantic details with a touch of Shakespearean fairy dust. The bard himself might have said that “love looks not with the eyes” but our vision of a midsummer wedding is all kinds of beautiful.

wedding dresses for a woodland wedding

Midsummer brides definitely need to embrace romance. Think flowing, trailing skirts made from light, gauzy fabrics such as tulle. This look needs a loose, undone hairstyle and don’t forget to carry a stunning, unstructured bouquet (take a look this feature about wildflower bouquets for even more inspiration).

Take inspiration from the woodlands too and add organic elements to your outfit. We adore the embroidery on this skirt that looks like the woodland has become part of the skirt. Don’t forget to keep your hairpiece as natural as possible too. Floral or foliage crowns are a complete must-have.

If brighter colours are more your thing, you can definitely include them in your midsummer wedding. Colourful blooms would bring a splash of joy and prettiness to your celebration and don’t forget the fairy cookies for favours!

Continue the floral theme with wedding stationery and why not use fresh petals for confetti? Twist your own cones and fill them with seasonal petals for an absolutely gorgeous confetti shot.

Bring the woodland to life with your midsummer wedding. Make your home amongst the trees with a super cool seating area, music and even a swing that would be oh-so suitable for a fairy queen!

A midsummer celebration absolutely needs delicious food and drink. Take your inspiration from the season with strawberries and light cocktails, served in glasses decorated with elderflower of course. Let your guests enjoy a relaxed feast by setting up a gorgeous buffet, full of wonderful sharing platters.

Lastly, remember that for a wedding, statement decorations are a must. Invite your guests into the woodland and into another world by walking through a beautiful floral arch. Make sure that all your decorations are as seasonal as possible, and your midsummer wedding will become a classic. You can find more ideas for decorations here.
