woodland weddings

With the end of June approaching, summer is most definitely here. That means one thing – weddings and lots of them! If you’re planning your summer wedding or if you’re getting married in a few weeks time, here’s our guide to the seasonal essentials that you just have to have on the big day:

  • Sunscreen – now this is an absolute must-have for so many reasons! If you’re planning an outdoor wedding then you’re going to be in the sun for a long time so make sure you’re well protected. Sunburnt shoulders are not what you want on your wedding day! Your face cream should contain SPF too and remember to choose a non-marking sunscreen to avoid staining your dress.
  • Umbrellas – as much as we’d all love guaranteed sunshine, we know that sometimes, summer showers can hit at the worst moment. If the forecast is looking a little dodgy, get prepared and provide umbrellas for guests.
  • Parasols – parasols are great for protecting you (and your guests) from the sun and they’re also super pretty accessories for photos.
  • Insect Repellant – summer days, sweet drinks and irresistible food all combine to make your wedding a magnet for biting bugs and insects. A dab or spray of insect repellant will keep you safe and if you can, leave some out for guests to use too.

  • Cool Canapés – hot days call for cool canapés so how about chilled bite-size nibbles or even mini jellies or ice-cold fruit wedges? Delish.
  • Social Feasts – long, lazy days call for long, lazy meals. Instead of making everyone sit at formal tables for a fully served meal, why not kickback and embrace the summer vibe with a gourmet picnic or buffet full of summer treats? Everyone can then create their own perfect meal and really enjoy the opportunity to chat and socialise.
  • Ice Cream – because you’re never too old for ice-cream and summer wouldn’t be the same without an icy treat or two. You can hire in cute ice-cream vans or bikes for your wedding or simply serve up posh popsicles!

  • Refreshing Drinks – hot days definitely call for cool drinks and when the sun is out, it’s really important to make sure that there are plenty of non-alcoholic options available for guests looking to rehydrate. We love seeing lemonades and fruit cordials in glass dispensers or cool cans in ice baths! You can even make tap water special with pretty jugs, ice cubes and garnishes.
  • Fans & Hats – actually, any little accessory that guests can pick up if needed work wonderfully well. Fans, hats, flip-flops, sunglasses… the choice is yours and don’t forget that these treats make fab favours.
  • Snuggly Evenings – if there’s one thing that we all love about summer, it’s the lovely long evenings. Encourage your guests to make the most of the great outdoors as the sun sets with an outdoor seating area, fire pit and a few snuggly blankets. Hot chocolates, marshmallows and S’mores are optional!

Our woodlands are perfect for summer weddings – why not get in touch and arrange a time to come and see them for yourself…
